«Highlightling the importance of ESG»

My Journey in Compliance commenced almost three years ago when I was onboarded to be a Compliance Officer for a Multinational Survival Technology Group within the ESG – Legal and Compliance Team. I began as one of three Compliance Officers but am one of only two with a remit over EMEA and APAC. In addition to daily tasks such as compliance screenings, reviewing sanctions regulations, updating policies I have also taken over a task initially given to external consultants that of reviewing our Countries of Concern list ( a list which following sanctions and export control reviews lays out risk levels of various countries within which we do business with and aligns these risk levels with additional actions and measures to safeguard our business). Along with my colleague, we provide training and support roles in any compliance related matter.
My first victory within the department was when I was able to utilise my Marine Industry knowledge along with knowledge acquired as a Lecturer in a College to create a Risk Management Process. Utilizing a traditional Risk Scoring (Severity x Likelihood) and looking at factors which increase a compliance risk rating (Port Calls, Vessel Movement Risks, AIS Monitoring and Ship – to Ship Transfers) I created a Risk Matrix which highlights cases that need to be followed up. This Risk Management Process increases our due diligence and reduces our compliance risks. Introducing Risk measurement tools within Compliance has increased awareness and resulted in proactive actions from member of the Group.
I have also been promoted to Head of ESG for the Group. Although the role initially pertained to routine like KYC’s, ESG assessments etc. I have expanded it to include innovative training (e.g carton booklets and training videos) along with being responsible for issuing the Group’s first ever ESG Report. All the ESG actions led us to pick up and an ESG Award at the first ever ESG Shipping Awards where I represented the Group. My initiatives have highlighted the importance of ESG throughout the Group ensuring that worldwide staff are trained and participate in the ESG process (where applicable).

Είναι απόφοιτη του Πανεπιστημίου του Leicester, LSE και της Νομικής Αθηνών.
Είναι Δικηγόρος με dual qualification. Εργάζεται επί σειρά ετών στον ναυτιλιακό τομέα. Έχει εργαστεί ως Διευθύντρια του Τμήματος Ποιότητας και Ασφάλειας και Διευθύντρια του Τμήματος Ανθρώπινου Δυναμικού. Πλέον, εργάζεται ως Διευθύντρια Ομίλου Περιβαλλοντολογικής Κοινωνικής Διακυβέρνησης, παράλληλα με τη θέση που κατέχει στο Τμήμα Συμμόρφωσης. Είναι επίσης Εισηγήτρια σε ιδιωτικό κολλέγιο και εκπαιδεύτρια σε ναυτική ακαδημία.
Είναι ομαδάρχης στην Επιτροπή κατά των Διακρίσεων και συντονίστρια στην Ομάδα Γυναικών στην εταιρία της. Έχει δημοσιεύσει άρθρα στα ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα στην Ναυτιλία, στις ρυθμιστικής διατάξεις στην Ναυτιλία και σε θέματα γενικού νομικού περιεχομένου.
